Lagos, Nigeria, June 2,2029 . Nigeria Volleyball Federation has advised its national indoor and beach volleyball players to apply for the the FIVB Athletes Relief Support fund in line with the FIVB requirements.
The world ruling body for volleyball,FIVB recently launched its Athletes’ Relief Support fund to provide short-term assistance to professional volleyball and beach volleyball players who have been affected financially by the global coronavirus pandemic.
Echoing the FIVB President Ary Graça’s speech to the volleyball family ,the president of the confederatoon of Africa Volleyball (CAVB),Dr Amr Elwani said the palliatives approved by the FIVB Executive Committee, will offer support to those athletes who are in financial hardship due to the postponement and cancellation of FIVB events.
He further quoted the fivb president saying the Athletes’ Relief Support fund is aimed at those who are currently unable to afford the basic necessities including, but not limited to, food, family care and housing. In light of the global nature of the current situation, all assistance will be determined by a thorough analysis of each individual case.
As a federation under the confederation and world body FIVB,the beach commission of the nigeria volleyball federation met via virtual meeting deliberated on the palliatives, its importance and eligibilities of Nigerian players.
After hours of brainstorming session presided over by the president, Musa Nimrod rose from the meeting to arrive at these major resolutions in line with the FIVB requirements.
The U-19 national team that attended the junior world cup in Tunisia in 2019 and rated 14th in the world and female beach volleyball players that attended the snow beach world tour in Argentina, FIVB Senior World Beach Championship in Germany, ANOC World Beach Championship in Qatar all in 2019 as well as beach volleyball players featuring at the Olympics qualifiers are most likely be beneficiaries of the grant.
Some of the would be beneficiaries appreciated the world volleyball governing body,FIVB for the gesture and promised that if their applications are granted,the fund will be adequately utilised to enhance their productivities and the game in general.
The application for the fund has been opened since 26th of May and will remain open for a period of one-month till 23rd of June 2020.
