Cairo, Egypt, July 5, 2020- Africans volleyball confederation “CAVB” Beach Volleyball Working Group met on Sunday to discuss resuming Beach agenda following the strike of Coronavirus Pandemic since March 2020 through Zoom.
CAVB President opened the meeting and welcomed the attendees and asked them to follow the instructions of FIVB and consequently the CAVB to resume the continental activities after full medical safty measures.
Among other items discussed in the agenda, the working group clarified the proposed agenda to resume the second round of the CAVB Continental Cup, which stopped last March after 5 tours out of 10, through the opinions of the organizers of those tours and the medical situation across the continent. The organisers proposed dates at the end of 2020 and others at the beginning of 2021. The Continental Cup acts as qualifiers for Tokyo Olympic Games in 2021.
The proposed dates for CAVB Beach U19 qualifiers and finals were also discussed until it is accurately declared by CAVB.
The meeting started with a presentation of two major Development Programs, namely the ambition of Youth Olympic Games position in the podium in 2022, and the development of Beach Volleyball at school. Presented by CAVB Academy Director Mohamed Ben Hamida, he showed the bright future of the two programs.
The meeting also discussed the progress of E- learning across the continent through BVB webinars.
Finally, the Working Group put on table the homologation of National tours and proposed some other continental tours to allow the winners of the Continental Cup to participate in the Olympic Games according to FIVB regulations of the participation in at least 12 homologated tours.
The attendees were CAVB President Dr Amr Elwani, Commission President Ahmed Khanou, members Khalid Cassam, Aly Yaro, Jean Michel, Carlo Rodriguez, Coaches Commission President Sherif El Shemerly, CAVB Academy Director Mohamed Ben Hamida and CAVB staff.
