ABOUT KAVC
Founded in 1970 by 3 former Makerere University Alumnus, Ahmed Jetha, Dr. Wilson Ojikan Odeke, Ojala Muduse and expatriate Erika Selzam who was a teacher of German language at Lubiri S.S. The 4 felt that they needed a club in which to channel skills earned through a self-driven vigorous program of training at campus.
In 1971 the Club was further strengthened by membership from the Uganda Police. These included SSP Mark Okellowange, SSP Stephen Kefulumya, and a young Police Constable, John Akii-Bua, who later went on to set the first and only World Record and won an Olympic gold medal by a Ugandan at the Munich Olympics -1972. KAVC is run by an Executive fully elected by the General Assembly. The Executive is headed by the President Milly Kure.
The Club’s home ground is Lugogo Indoor Stadium. The club prides in 6 Elite teams in the National Volleyball League. Senior teams for men and women, Veterans teams for men and women, junior team for Boys and Girls. The League runs from May till December each calendar year. The men’s senior Team are 5 time League Champions
while the women have won it 3 times since the League inception in 2002.
