Kampala, Uganda, November 19, 2020. The USPA Female Volleyball Player of 2019 Grace Akiror, was not at the podium to receive her award in person.

The multiple 2019 MVP missed the award held on 18th November at the Serena Hotel in Kampala thanks to a street riot that ;locked her out of the venue.

“The streets from my home to Serena were cut off by political rioters and it was only safe that I stayed put.” Said Grace Akiror.

Akiror was also instrumental in Nkumba’s 7th title quest in the Uganda National Volleyball League and the National Club Championship 2019 and she also put a show in Rwanda to help her team Lift the Rwanda Genocide Memorial Tournament. Though she missed the ceremony, Akiror is not outdone by the miss.

“Volleyball is a sport at heart and I will keep improving at it always as much as I can and hope I can win the next Award and attend in person.” Said Akiror.
