IBB Polonia won 3-1 Team Sunderland (23-25, 23-25, 25-23 and 25-14)

London | 16th November 2019. David Okot’s Team, Team Sunderland lost 3-1 to Giba’s IBB Polonia in the National Volleyball Super League of England. IBB Polonia won 3 – 1 Team Sunderland (23-25, 23-25, 25-23 and 25-14) at the Osterley Sports Centre.

Okot at his days at KAVC was predominantly a setter, but is hitting instead in England’s top Volleyball league. Team Sunderland is home to another Ugandan bred player Ben Wooding who was introduced to Volleyball by Tonny Lakony at the International School of Uganda in Lubowa.

IBB Polonia are not only defending champions and log leaders but also home to Brazzill legend, Gilberto Amauri de Godoy Filho, known as Giba.

10 teams play in the top tier league.  The National Super League, Team Sunderland won the lower Division and got promoted to the top Division this year and has won 2 of the 6 fixture. Sunderland, lie 8th on the log after 6 games of the season.

“The set scores were really close in the first three sets; I am still working on my fitness and can’t wait for the home games”. Said Okot who also coaches at Newcastle Volleyball team.

Okot’s next tie is at home to. Durham Palatinates Men on Sunday 2th November 2019 at midday.
