How did you get started playing Volleyball?
I started playing volleyball when i visited Lugogo were KAVC train from way back in 2003. With the inspiration, I returned to Nakawa Quarters and started playing for Nakawa Volleyball Club.
Do you like playing indoor volleyball or Beach volleyball more? Why?
I love Indoor volleyball because I have never gotten challenges in it. I have studied on Volleyball bursaries all my life and so I do really love it.
I have played Beach Volleyball at Continental level as well, highest level being the All Africa Games 2011 in Mozambique. I have been seed one for 3-years 2014, 2015 and 2016.
Who would you say are your top influences in life and in the Sport? Why?
Top influencer in life is Arsenal/France legend Thierry Henry.
He was a very hardworking sportsman and joy to watch.
Do you have any pregame ritual(s) that you do before every game?
Apart from praying.
What do you normally do when volleyball is over for the season?
First of all, i love doing music and i enjoy music, secondly i do my office work in case of any assignment; i am always in office and also visiting my family because volleyball takes a lot of my time.
What other sports do you play? Why?
Outside Volleyball, I do play football in my free time, in fact i was inspired by Thierry Henry during his time.
Of all your accomplishments as a professional volleyball player, is there a match or tournament that stands out in your mind? Why?
I think that was in Beach volleyball at a Continental cup, When i played against Algeria and also national team volleyball when i played against Rwanda in the 2017.
What are your plans for 5 years down the line?
1 want to continue my career in Volleyball and may be venture into coaching in the next 5-years.
What do you think the Uganda Volleyball community needs the most?
Uganda volleyball community need to find her own home where un-interrupted volleyball can be played. For now we are hopping from one venue to another (National Volleyball League is played rotation-ally in Nkumba-Entebbe and UCU in Mukono, occasionally at the Lugogo Indoor stadium)
Clubs and the Federation should also invest in Marketing and the Publicity of the game to a wider audience.
What advice do you have for young athletes in Uganda?
Pay attention to discipline and have respect in order to achieve their dreams, work hard in order to be very successful.
