Ilorin, Nigeria, 22 November 2020. The day two of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation Super Cup witnessed upsets and what experts described as Vengeance as the five matches comprising two female and three matches were decided.
The first female match which was the first match of day two saw the winners of the 2019 Premier league Nigeria security and civil defence corp lived up to their billings by beating the chief of army staff team at 3-0 ( 25-23, 25-18 and 25-20)
The runners up of the 2019 Premier League, Nigeria Customs service displayed their supremacy and superiority over an upcoming Kada Emeralds beating the youthful team 3-0 (25-14, 25-14 and 25-21). After the match the team was met by the senior officers of the service who were around to give moral support to the teams.
The third match of day two and first male match which was between the Sunshine Spikers and the chief of army staff team was described by experts as a vengeance mission on the part of sunshine spikers.
Statistically, the two teams had met thrice in the league, actions which saw the Sunshine Spikers winning twice and lost the final of the 2019 division one final to the Army team . To further showcase their vengeance mission, Sunshine Spikers in a tension soaked match beat the army team 3-0 at (27-25, 25-15 and 25-16)
The fourth match of day two was between the newly improved Kano Pillars and the Nigeria police force. Kano Pillars that defeated same police force in the last edition of the Nigeria Volleyball premiere league repeated same feat subduing the police force 3-0 at (25-22, 25-17 and 25-15)
The last match of day two was a display of volleyball artistry, spiking proweress,impenetrable blocks and good back court defence by Nigeria Customs and Civil defence. It is gathered that the two teams have played each other seven times including two finals which indicated that civil defence went away with Five victories and Customs won twice before this match. The two arch rivals show the stuff they are made of in the 5 sets played. At the end civil defence registers their sixth victory over customs in the tough match that ended 3-2 (14-25, 25-23, 25-12, 24-26 and 15-13)
Meanwhile, another five matches have been slated for Day three .
The first three male matches to be decided are: Offa volleyball club takes on the Nigeria Customs, Sunshine Spikers Vs Nigeria police force while Kano Pillars will play against Chief of army staff team in the last male match of day three.
The two female matches are Heartland of Imo/ kada Emeralds and Nigeria Immigration service/Civil defence.
