Kelibia, Tunisia, April 20, 2021 – Excitement is building up ahead of technical meeting for the 2021 Women African Clubs Championship confirmed to take place on Tuesday April 20th at 1600hrs Tunisian time (1500hrs GMT).
With 14 clubs expected to grace this year’s edition which will be held under strict Covid-19 protocols, the African volleyball fraternity is awaiting the new champion with bated breath after holders Al Ahly not taking part.
The technical meeting will be graced by CAVB President Bouchra Hajij through Zoom.
In the absence of the record winners, CF Carthage of Tunisia who have reached the final in the previous editions are certainly the favorites.
However, they will face stiff competition from Kenya Prisons and their compatriots Pipeline who have 11 titles between them. While Pipeline are looking to end a 15-year drought on the continental scene, Prisons last won in 2013.
Tunisian clubs KO Kelibia, La Marsa and Sfax will also be out to challenge for honours and ensure the trophy remains home. CF Carthage’s only title was in 2017 when the tournament was hosted in Monastir, Tunisia.
