Kelibia, Tunisia, April 21, 2021. The Women Club Championships finally served off on Wednesday at Aissa Ben Nasr Arena in Kelibia.
Five games were on the cards on Match day one where the four favourites got off to a flying start.
Hosts CS Sfaxien who are also the Tunisian champions beat Ethiopia’s Wolaita Sodo 3-0 (25-9, 25-12, 25-10) while compatriots Carthage ran out 3-0 (25-10, 25-11,25-13) winners over AS Douanes of Butkina Faso.
Kenyan champions Prisons made light work of Muzinga from Burundi easing past them in straight sets (25-8, 25-8, 25-8).
Six-time champions Kenya Pipeline also defeated Cote d’Ivoire’s ASEC Mimosas 3-0 (25-11,25-11,25-11) while Customs of Nigeria blanked National Alcohol of Ethiopia 3-0 (25-12, 25-17, 25-16) in the first match of the day.
Action continues on Thursday with five matches set to be played.
